Do not deduct bills that are not yet due, long term debt beyond the next 12 months, or any interest element. Interest is not a debt Islam recognises for this purpose.
09Farm produceUshr, calculated separately0
Ushr is a separate obligation with its own rules. It falls due at every harvest, not once a lunar year, and its threshold is roughly 653 kg of the crop, not the cash nisab. It is kept out of the figure above and reported on its own.
Value of produce watered by rain or springs10%
Value of produce watered by pump, canal or well5%
Value of produce watered by both7.5%
10Grazing livestockPaid in animals, not in cash
Livestock zakat is not a percentage of value. It follows fixed bands and is paid in animals. Any calculator that charges you 2.5% of your herd's worth is wrong. Enter your numbers and this will tell you what is actually due.
Sheep and goats, free grazing, over one year
Cattle and buffalo, free grazing
Camels, free grazing
Poultry, fish farms and stall fed animals raised to sell are trade stock, not grazing livestock. Put their value in section 06 instead.

This calculator will always be free, with no ads and no account. Your gift keeps it online and supports the work behind it: building tools and media that serve the Muslim community, and supporting the person who maintains them.

This is sadaqah, not zakat. Your zakat belongs to the eight categories entitled to receive it, and this does not count as one. Please pay your zakat to them separately.

The short answer

Zakat in Saudi Arabia is 2.5% of your net wealth in SAR, once it passes the nisab and has been held for one lunar year. The nisab is the value of 87.48g of gold or 612.36g of silver, whichever applies. Gulf gold is often 21K or 22K, and the calculator adjusts for purity. The calculator above shows today's nisab in SAR.

Calculating zakat in Saudi Arabia

In Saudi Arabia, zakat is both a religious obligation and, for businesses, a formal levy administered by ZATCA. For individuals, zakat is 2.5% of surplus wealth held for one lunar year, covering riyal savings, gold and silver, shares on Tadawul, and business assets. Gold in the Gulf is commonly traded as 21K and 22K, measured in grams. The calculator defaults to riyals and handles every carat.

The nisab in Saudi riyals

The nisab is 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver, and its riyal value tracks the daily gold and silver price. Because the riyal is pegged to the US dollar, the nisab in SAR is relatively stable compared with floating currencies, but it still moves with metal prices. See Nisab Today for the live figure.

What is zakatable in Saudi Arabia

  • Cash in hand and in bank accounts, and savings of every kind
  • Gold and silver in every form, subject to your school's ruling on worn jewellery
  • Shares, funds and investments, at market value or underlying assets
  • Business stock and trade goods at cost, plus money owed to you
  • Property bought to resell, though not your own home or a rented property's value

Your home, vehicle, household goods and the tools of your trade are not zakatable.

Which debts you can deduct

Deduct debts due within the next twelve months: personal borrowings, the coming year of loan instalments, and bills already due. You may not deduct the full balance of a long-term loan or any interest element. The calculator applies the rule of your chosen school.

Frequently asked questions

What is the nisab for zakat in Saudi Arabia?

The nisab is fixed in weight, 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver, and its value in SAR changes daily with metal prices. The silver nisab is lower and is the one most scholars recommend. The calculator shows today's figure in SAR.

How much zakat do I pay in Saudi Arabia?

Zakat is 2.5% of your net zakatable wealth in SAR, once it is above the nisab and has been held for one lunar year. On 100,000 of net wealth, the zakat is 2,500.

Which nisab should I use, gold or silver?

Most scholars recommend the silver nisab because it is lower, so more people qualify and more reaches the needy. If your wealth sits between the two thresholds, silver is the safer choice.

Does the calculator work in SAR?

Yes. It defaults to SAR for this page and converts live gold and silver prices into SAR. You can also switch to any of 95 currencies, and overwrite the metal price with your local rate.

Is my information private?

Yes. The whole calculation runs in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, there is no account, and closing the page erases everything you entered.

This calculator gives a reliable estimate for ordinary situations and is not a substitute for a scholarly ruling. For a complex estate or business, consult a qualified scholar. Verify gold and silver rates against your local market on the day.
